Am trying to install cinelerra GG to xubuntu 18 .4. $ sudo deb [trusted=yes] https://cinelerra-gg.org/download/pkgs/ub18 bionic main [sudo] password for douglas: sudo: deb: command not found I have done this before but cannot get cin installed now. Thanks for any help with this. Douglas

By the way, cpu usage seems lower when rendering 1080p than when rendering 4k, however 4k goes faster. Thank you all for your help! I've tried your suggestions and things have improved somewhat (although unfortunately, I don't know exactly what action made the biggest difference). I have successfully updated to the current version of Cinelerra in the repositories. I've done some additional testing and found strange results. All of my testing was performed with the FFMPEG>Youtube>hd_h264.youtube preset. As a baseline, timeline playback with both 4k and 1080p runs at full framerate, or nearly full framerate (as long as no effects are enabled). Rendering a 4k video from a friend's camera with no effects takes about double real time. Bitrate on this video is 95MB/s Rendering a 1080p video from my own camera, transcoded with ffmpeg to reduce bitrate to 10MB/s (native bitrate for this camera is unnecessarily extremely high) takes about triple real time. This makes no sense to me since the source data rate for the 1080p files is so much lower, but perhaps my method of transcoding on file ingestion is faulty, and is creating problems for Cinelerra? Help with performance problems

Hi there, I am running AVLinux on an Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 0 @ 2.90GHz. This is an 8-core CPU with hyperthreading. The system has 32GB of RAM. I am getting what I consider to be very slow render times and wanted to know if something is set up wrong. As a test, I imported a 1080p video from my camera, looped it several times and rendered it with no effects or compositing. For a 4 minute video it took about 12 minutes to render as an .mp4. CPU usage never went above 23% and memory usage never went above 19%. Here is a screenshot showing input file characteristics, project format, the video render options, and performance settings for Cinelerra. [image: Screenshot_2019-12-07_15-06-33.jpg] When I ingest files from the camera in my normal workflow, I immediately convert them into a lower bitrate because the camera sensor quality has no need of 25mbps video directly with FFMpeg. It usually does much better than real time. I'm wondering what causes Cinelerra renders to be so slow, and whether there are any settings I can modify to improve rendering performance. Side-note: Even opening 12 1080p video streams at once on Cinelerra doesn't occupy much RAM on my computer, although performance becomes very poor. Is there a way to understand why Cinelerra doesn't use more RAM? Thanks! Dan

@IgorBeg; Usual request to put on the forum the video of the manipulation of the tracks in the timeline. @All; There are now many good video tutorials made by IgorBeg and Phyllis. Having them on streamable is not ideal for their visibility: you can only access them through forums or mailing lists. My proposal is to upload them to CinGG's Youtube channel, which for now only shows the translation tutorial. Is such a solution possible?

Two possibilities: First, you upload directly, I give each of the tutorials has the access data. second option: You put the videos on a storage space of your choice and I pick them up from there. Hi, I don't know if it me but when I access https://cinelerra-gg.org/download/ I get Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN and FF recommends to leave the site saying "Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to cinelerra-gg.org. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details". What is going on? Is it a problem or someone tempered with the site? https://cinelerra-gg.org is fine however in the warning messages https://cinelerra-gg.org it is mentioned as well.
